JD Harmeyer: am i the first guy here?
(Commish): The first drafter, yeah
Jason Pliml: Hi JD - glad you were able to join us.
(Commish): Usually, most are here by the 10-minute mark
JD Harmeyer: great....i knew i'd be "that guy"
(Commish): Everyone else has done this before - no worries
Scott Engel: wasup fellas
Jason Pliml: Hey Scottie - how are things?  You're gonna be in Chicago in June, right?
Scott Engel: Hopefully
Jason Pliml: I'll write a note to your teacher, nanny, priest, whatever you need
(Commish): Welcome to Scott Engel of Roto Experts
Scott Engel: Thank you!
Scott Engel: LOL
Scott Engel: I feel like Epstein in Welcome Back Kotter
Scott Engel: I gotta note ....
(Commish): Welcome to Cory Bonini of KFFL
Cory Bonini: Hi all
Jason Pliml: Quick English tip - you can't spell OVER without "Blanton"
Cory Bonini: Hope everyone enjoyed the draft weekend
Scott Engel: Whats up Cory
Jay Clemons: OK, I'm in ... thanks, Geoff
(Commish): Welcome to Jay Clemons of Sports Illustrated
(Commish): Welcome, Jay
Scott Engel: the one and only JC
Jay Clemons: ha
Scott Engel: whats up
Jay Clemons: i knew we'd be drafting next to each other, scott
Jay Clemons: nada...just sitting here @ work
Scott Engel: cant have it any other way
Jay Clemons: watching baseball and drafting football
Scott Engel: FSWA Fantasy Football Writer of the Year, people
Jay Clemons: not sure if I'm in "drafting" shape
(Commish): Question from AIM: whose to most highly coveted rookie this year and what round do u think he should be drafted earliest
Jason Pliml: If you've been doing 12-oz curls, you're ready
Jay Clemons: but I've done about 5 NFL Clicks ... so i should be OK
Scott Engel: Knowshown Moreno - Round Five
Jason Pliml: Wells is a clear consideration for top rookie.  I'd stake some coin on Crabtree as well
Scott Engel: Yup, watching Mets-Marlins jay
(Commish): We held a league draft on the site yesterday, and Beanie Wells was the first in Round 5
(Commish): Welcome to Lou Tranquilli of BFD Fantasy Football
Scott Engel: Wow
Jay Clemons: the first rookie i'll want off the board is jarrett dillard -- WR, Jags
(Commish): Welcome to Herbie Teope of Time Warner Cable & Metro Sports
Scott Engel: not gonna be Heyward By
Jay Clemons: no competition, no excuse for not getting significant playing time in Week 1
Herbie Teope: Howdy, gentlemen ... and Geoff.
(Commish): Dillard was a monster for college fantasy teams
David Dodds: in
(Commish): Welcome to David Dodds of Football Guys
Scott Engel: Anibal sanchez pitching, Mark sanchez in the SNY booth
David Dodds: is this PPR?
Scott Engel: nope
Jason Pliml: No, not PPR
Jason Pliml: Hi David
Scott Engel: Wasup David/
David Dodds: got it..i am ready..lol
David Dodds: nothing much
David Dodds: hammering away at projections
Scott Engel: that certainly is more than nothing much :)
Jay Clemons: are we writing paragraphs before the draft ... listing our expectations and philosophies
Jay Clemons: like Fanball does?
(Commish): Nah
Jay Clemons: ok
Jason Pliml: That would be overachieving for our draft :)
Scott Engel: I expect Dodds will take everyone I want
David Dodds: I expect to not draft as bad as Oakland did
Scott Engel: LOL
(Commish): Question from AIM: Where do you Romo gets drafted this year in fantasy draft? Is he still top QB without TO????
Scott Engel: so rookies are already in the MDC system?
Louis Tranquilli: Oakland did a fine job....for a USFL team
Scott Engel: ha ha
Jason Pliml: Of course, Scott.  Do you think I let Geoff just sit around??
David Dodds: i have Romo around 8.  They still have a decent offense
(Commish): Welcome to Brian Swaw of Game Time Decisions
Scott Engel: Roy Williams and Romo will be a good pairing - plus Witten is still there - sixth round
(Commish): Welcome to David Gonos of OPEN Sports
Scott Engel: LOL Jason
Brian Swaw: Hello to all
Jason Pliml: I'd expect Romo to be off the board by end of 5th round in most leagues - too much love for him.
Scott Engel: Whats up Brian
Jay Clemons: wassup
David Gonos: hey all
Scott Engel: GONOS!!!!
(Commish): Welcome to Paul Greco of Fantasy Pros 911
David Dodds: 8th QB - yeah probably the 5th round
David Gonos: let's draft fantasy writers.
Jay Clemons: breaking news: Fins cut John Beck
Scott Engel: awright, Grecos here
Jay Clemons: cross him off your list
Paul Greco: Hey guys
Scott Engel: Broken news ...
Paul Greco: Herbie how do you prounounce your name pal so I don't screw it up
Jason Pliml: Hey Paul
(Commish): Welcome to Brandon Funston of Yahoo
Jason Pliml: It's Herb - EE
Brandon Funston: Howdy fellas
Scott Engel: FantasyPros has arrived
Jason Pliml: :)
Jason Pliml: Tee - O - pee
Scott Engel: Big B!
Herbie Teope: Wha'ts up, Paul. Spell T.O.P., and then say it fast for Teope.
Brandon Funston: What's up, Scotty!
David Dodds: start 3 WRs, right?
Herbie Teope: Jason got it.
Scott Engel: Wasup B!
Jason Pliml: Correct David
Jason Pliml: 3 starting WR
Scott Engel: Aaron Curry baby!
Herbie Teope: Howdy, Brandon.
(Commish): Welcome to Gregg Rosenthal of Rotoworld
Brandon Funston: Can't complain
Brandon Funston: Hey Herbie
Paul Greco: I wont be chatting in here to much
Gregg Rosenthal: Hey guys
Herbie Teope: With the fifth pick, I select a Chief. Have to keep the KC crowd happy...
JD Harmeyer: alright gentleman.....with the first pick....
Herbie Teope: What's up, Gregg.
(Commish): Way to go out on limb, JD
JD Harmeyer: hardy har har
(Commish): Question from AIM: how different is the top 5 in a ppr?
(Commish): So much for WRs catching up
Gregg Rosenthal: we might need to stop the draft.  john beck has been cut by the Dolphins.  adjust accordingly
Jay Clemons: i can't believe Westy at 8
(Commish): Should we roll back to No. 1?  That's huge news....
Cory Bonini: Seems fair for Westbrook
Cory Bonini: given the injuries and a tag team partner
Gregg Rosenthal: Agree with Cory
Jason Pliml: I can see Westbrook going 5th overall in PPR, but otherwise it remains pretty much the same.
Cory Bonini: Was weird seeing LT at 7, though
Jason Pliml: Forte and Jones Drew are studs in PPR and very good in non-PPR
Herbie Teope: Ugh. So much for Calvin Johnson sliding to me this round...
Scott Engel: cant get the BTR feed, stuck on buffering
(Commish): Working for me, Scott
Scott Engel: dammit
Scott Engel: got it now
Cory Bonini: Nice pick on Slaton
Scott Engel: I almost took Johnson
Jay Clemons: my man-crush for CJ knows no bounds
Scott Engel: LOL
Jay Clemons: if we were starting 3 RBs...i may have swiped him in Round 1
Gregg Rosenthal: yeah I'd think he'll go first round most times, but maybe that's just me.
Scott Engel: Three WR league couldnt resist Calvin
Gregg Rosenthal: And Jay
Jason Pliml: I'm intrigued by the draft thus far - I was curious if we would see the inception of stud WR theory this year
Brandon Funston: Dang it -- Slaton was the last of a tier for me -- RBs fell a bit off a cliff at that, IMO
Scott Engel: heck yes
Jay Clemons: in my PPRs this year ... if I have a late pick in Round 1 ... I'm going WR, WR, WR to start
David Dodds: so wanted moss there
(Commish): Question from AIM: beanie or knowshon?
Brandon Funston: Knowshon
Scott Engel: yea
Scott Engel: 1200 other mediocre RBs on the roster
Jay Clemons: beanie
Gregg Rosenthal: beanie
Jay Clemons: he'll have no competition (assuming edge is cut)
Jay Clemons: hightower may vulture some red-zone TDs... but that's it
Jay Clemons: knowshon has buckhatler, jordan, torain, hall, jj arrington
Brandon Funston: We're considering Correll Buckhalter, JJ Arrington and Peyton Hillis legit competition?
(Commish): I suspect this debate will last well into the summer
Scott Engel: No way on Arrington
Jay Clemons: forgot about hillis
Louis Tranquilli: I bet it lasts well into the season...
Jay Clemons: i'm just saying ...
(Commish): Question from AIM: Is Joseph Addai a reliable running back this year?
Jay Clemons: a lot of specialized backs there
Scott Engel: Personally, I dont like any of the other Denver RBs except for maybe Hillis, who can be used as an H back
Louis Tranquilli: No Addai isn;t
Jason Pliml: Addai is ok as a 2b running back at best
Louis Tranquilli: The Indy backfield is going to look like the SB season of Addai/Rhodes
(Commish): Question from AIM: is the lack of quality rb's available now making anyone regret grabbing a wr early...?
Scott Engel: Nah ;)
Louis Tranquilli: no, there are plenty of good RBs
Gregg Rosenthal: no.  plenty left.  agreed that big drop off after Slaton
Jason Pliml: Good RB's yes.  Stud RB's are scarce
Jason Pliml: In leagues with a flex RB/WR/TE spot, I'm leaning toward a WR this year where I used to be thinking RB
(Commish): Question from e-mail for JD Harmeyer: jd, who else plays in your fantasy football league?
JD Harmeyer: gary (booey)...jason kaplan, jon hein, will murray, steve brandano (intern show host)
JD Harmeyer: jerry o'connell played last time, not sure if he'll do it again this year with us
(Commish): You took the title last year, correct?
JD Harmeyer: i did
Scott Engel: we playin this out?
Brandon Funston: About where I had him Scotty
(Commish): Hellz no
Jason Pliml: are you kidding Scott?  Too early.
Scott Engel: LOL
Scott Engel: had to ask
Brandon Funston: hah
JD Harmeyer: i hope not, both my rb's have week 9 byes, i'd be screwed that week
Scott Engel: almost went with the homer pick Brandon
Jason Pliml: So far, Mike Cameron has recorded more outs than Braden Looper...
Scott Engel: Jay took our boy
Gregg Rosenthal: We are publishing this though in our first magazine.  Because I was too lazy to put together a mock by myself.
Gregg Rosenthal: Thanks MDC guys!
Jay Clemons: ha
Jason Pliml: you're welcome, Gregg
(Commish): Anytime, Gregg
Scott Engel: LOL - glad to be included Gregg
Scott Engel: thx
(Commish): Question from AIM: projections for tj in seattle?
Scott Engel: 1050 ytds, eight Tds
Brian Swaw: 90/1200/8
Brian Swaw: his value will be much higher in PPR leagues
Herbie Teope: Yeah, he is. However, Tee-Ohh-Pee lol
(Commish): lol
JD Harmeyer: i hate my team
(Commish): It's April - we'll all forget about this come August
Scott Engel: we cant - it will be in print!
Jay Clemons: i cannot, in good conscience, take any Bucs player with that mess of a QB situation
Jay Clemons: poor bryant
Herbie Teope: Dang it, David. I had Ocho Cinco in my que...
(Commish): He got the job done with Jeff Garcia last year - it can't be too much worse, can it?
Gregg Rosenthal: Yeah I was torn between him and Ward.
Jay Clemons: true dat
Jay Clemons: still ...
(Commish): Comment from AIM: nice on ward
(Commish): I'll throw a question out there: How does everyone rank the TEs this year in a standard league?
Gregg Rosenthal: Well, I would guess they will start going earlier in most leagues than this one.
(Commish): I would guess that, as well
(Commish): Think Witten goes a lot earlier in a PPR league
Jay Clemons: tight end is super-deep
Jason Pliml: A lot earlier.  Gonzo is a big question mark to me.
Jay Clemons: no need to rush
Brian Swaw: I like Olsen as a value pick with Cutler there now...
(Commish): Question from e-mail: is this the year Jamal Lewis falls off the cliff?
Jason Pliml: do you also love Schefler with Orton in Denver?
Jay Clemons: i have olsen as 4 or 5 TE
Scott Engel: heck yes - orton likes the te, fits his style
Cory Bonini: Assuming Scheffler sticks with the team
Scott Engel: you think he wont?
Cory Bonini: I'm skeptical about McDaniels' offense even using a TE
(Commish): I like the TE in Philly, whoever it ends up being
Cory Bonini: Plus they drafted Richard
(Commish): Maclin and DeSean together will stretch the field
Scott Engel: near the gaol line I think he will look for him, but good point bout the coaching
Scott Engel: Celek
(Commish): Comment from AIM: nice picks this round
Jason Pliml: I can't see J Lewis having much left in the tank.
Cory Bonini: Scott - I'm guessing Scheffler sticks
Jay Clemons: i usually just load up on RBs and just trade my way out of a hole
Cory Bonini: Thought they'd move him during the draft
Scott Engel: yea, I heard they might
Scott Engel: Do like him though
(Commish): Question from e-mail: where would marshall and cutler go if jay were still in denver?
Jay Clemons: marshall would've been a solid 3 in PPRs ... 4-5 in standards for me
(Commish): Question from AIM: Biggest bust RB (and no "injury" cop-outs)
Herbie Teope: Time to swing for the fences with Greene in Round 7.
Brandon Funston: Thomas Jones has biggest bust potential for '09, IMO
Gregg Rosenthal: Bust: LT
(Commish): Question from AIM:  What's a cooler spelling of Shawn? Chone or Shonn?
Brandon Funston: Knowshon
Jason Pliml: I'm going to go with MB III for the bust - Jerry is in love with his pet Felix
(Commish): I worry some about Matt Forte - dude carried a huge workload last year as a rookie.  Most receptions by a RB in the NFL
Jason Pliml: That is a lot of mileage on a young back (and yes, for the record, I just agreed with Geoff on something)
(Commish): Did you not want Ricky, Lou?
Jason Pliml: I keep wondering if this is the year the Bears defense is exposed as very average
(Commish): Question from e-mail: What is the deepest position this year?
Louis Tranquilli: WR in my opinion and QB too
Jay Clemons: assuming you start 1 QB -- QB
Jay Clemons: RB is a lot deeper than people think ... timeshares are everywhere
Scott Engel: good point Jay
Jay Clemons: gracias
Louis Tranquilli: I agree on RBs, they were very deep last season to. But because of the injuries/surprises
Jason Pliml: So does that mean it's better to grab a couple #1 receivers and bargain shop for RB's after the studs are gone?
Scott Engel: if you do your HW like these guys do, every position is deep ;0
Herbie Teope: Since I'm writing about this draft for The Star, may as well do a homer pick :p
(Commish): Question from AIM: what do you expect from "Le'Ron McClain"
Louis Tranquilli: Damn Herbie! I was waitin on him!!!
Gregg Rosenthal: Because what I needed was a fourth RB in this Mock
Jay Clemons: i could sleep very well at night ... if I got 2 of the Big 3 WRs in the first three rounds
Herbie Teope: Nice pick on Olsen, David.
Jay Clemons: after that...just take RBs en masse
Jason Pliml: I like cheap TD guys like Gary Russell in deeper leagues (14/16 teams)
(Commish): Like the Felix pick, Brian
Scott Engel: so explosive
Jay Clemons: a defense already?
Brian Swaw: thanks...big upside
(Commish): Explosive like Scott Engel singing karaoke
David Dodds: and my defense #7 to boot..lol
Jason Pliml: So where does Warrick Dunn end up?
Scott Engel: LOL
Scott Engel: undrafted
Scott Engel: :)
Jay Clemons: home run, Magglio!!!
Scott Engel: grand slam omir santos
(Commish): lol
JD Harmeyer: FINALLY mags does something for me fantasy wise
Scott Engel: love the avery pick
(Commish): As we slow down some, I'd like to invite our experts to plug anything their fine companies have going on
Jay Clemons: i had avery queued up for four rounds
Jay Clemons: wanted to keep testing y'all ... just like I'm doing for my No. 1 breakout-of-nowhere
Cory Bonini: I figured someone has to catch the ball there, right?
Scott Engel: hes a young galloway
David Dodds: trade value...lol
Cory Bonini: :)
Jay Clemons: damn U, herbie
Herbie Teope: Plan B for my QBBC. I expect good things from Schaub in a maturing Houston offense. Now if only he can stay healthy...
Jason Pliml: MockDraftCentral.com - your one stop shop for live mock drafts against the best competition and the highest quality ADP anywhere!
Gregg Rosenthal: Amazing to see Palmer that late.  Good reason to not draft a QB early.
(Commish): Good call, Herbie.  There are worse things in the world than a Cassel-Schaub platoon
Jay Clemons: i guess i have to take a QB now
Scott Engel: www.rotoexperts.com - FREE membrship and advice, personalized!
Jay Clemons: ah, the plugs
Herbie Teope: Brett Favre is still out there, Jay.
(Commish): Comment from AIM: horrible crabtree pick, everyone knows heyward bay is where its at
JD Harmeyer: he does run a fast 40
JD Harmeyer: should have put that into consideration
Jay Clemons: (maybe i won't be so eager to take camarillo, aka Wes Welker Jr., in regular drafts)
(Commish): You want a quick 40-time, JD, I have two words for you - Herbie Teope
Herbie Teope: Yeah, right. 60 years ago.
(Commish): He's at Deion levels, from what I hear
Herbie Teope: Wait. I wasn't born 60 years ago.
(Commish): I was gonna' say, I had you pegged for 58
Jason Pliml: I actually like Crabtree in SF this year.  He'll put up solid #4 fantasy WR numbers with the upside of a #3 guy.  Probably won't be consistent is my only knock on him depending on CB matchup for the week
Jay Clemons: hahahah...brett favre is actually on the QB board
Jason Pliml: we refuse to retire him again. Favre will be draftable until the year 2100
Brian Swaw: as he should be
(Commish): I'll throw a question out there: Last year Ricky Williams and Chris Perry (RIP) weren't drafted in our first expert draft, but shot up draft boards once August came around.  Who are some guys that will be drafted late/undrafted who have the potential to move up to fifth- or sixth-round levels?
Brian Swaw: better safe than sorry
Jason Pliml: Mendenhall is a name that comes to mind
(Commish): That's a good call
Jason Pliml: Fred Jackson is another to consideer
Jason Pliml: and whoever is healthy in Denver :)
Brian Swaw: with the  new regime in cleveland, Jerome Harrrison could beat out lewis
(Commish): Another good call
Jason Pliml: that's a very legitimate point, Brian
Jason Pliml: now pass that bottle of Jeremiah Weed...
Louis Tranquilli: Ray Rice
(Commish): I rarely feel bad for professional athletes, but my heart goes out to Jason Campbell
(Commish): Guy has a new offensive system to learn every year and they're always trying to trade him
Scott Engel: wr situation stinks
Jason Pliml: I feel for Russ Ortiz because he is Russ Ortiz
(Commish): Or "upgrade"
Scott Engel: good pick gonos
Jay Clemons: i need it for wednesday
(Commish): Yeah - I'll send out the results
Jay Clemons: i, like gregg, am too lazy to think of new post-draft material
Herbie Teope: You rock, Geoff. Thanks.
(Commish): No worries
(Commish): We appreciate all of you guys joining us for a football draft in April
Scott Engel: 16 rounds right?
(Commish): Nope
(Commish): Just 14
(Commish): Almost done
Scott Engel: thx
(Commish): Scott's having so much fun that he doesn't want to leave me
David Gonos: thanks, scotty, i saw McCoy destroy USF in Tampa -- I'm sold.
Jay Clemons: i would kill to have b-celek as my TE2 in a real league this year
Gregg Rosenthal: filling out a starting lineup right?
Scott Engel: excatly!
(Commish): lol, Laurence Maroney -- first time I've heard that name since October
(Commish): Not a bad pick
(Commish): Yes, Gregg
(Commish): Lou talks up Rice, then drafts him - a man of his word
Jay Clemons: now... all i need is fargas...and i'll have the raiders' holy trinity of RBs
Jason Pliml: yeah, holy - that's the word...
(Commish): That pretty much guarantees a Championship Game appearance
Jason Pliml: anyone else excited to see Jeff Garcia chucking 20 yard bombs down field?
Jay Clemons: mock the raiders all you want (for which I do, as well)...bu there's no doubting the commitment to the run
Scott Engel: he has to throw fouer passes to reach 20 yds
Jay Clemons: jeff garcia is a cancer
Jason Pliml: they have talent in the backfield, to be sure, but facing 8-man fronts is a tough task
(Commish): I'd run a lot, too, if JaMarcus Russell was my QB
Jay Clemons: he'll poison that locker room ... continually undermining JaMarcus
Jay Clemons: and Ted Tollner (the OC) are buds, too
Scott Engel: I thought he was an aquariu s- boom doom doom
Jay Clemons: i'd be worried for jamarcus
Jason Pliml: not to mention dating supermodels and playmates
Jay Clemons: his wife is hot -- I'll give him that
Louis Tranquilli: JaMarcus is a soldi breakout candidate IMO
Jay Clemons: he threw for -- what? -- 2,600-plus yards last year ... without one 300-yard game
Scott Engel: really? You like him/
Jay Clemons: that shows consistency
Scott Engel: ?
Jay Clemons: his improvement arc is still 3-4 years away from plateauing
Jay Clemons: which is WHY i'm stunned they didn't take crabtree
Herbie Teope: J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS! I'm a Ryan believer when it comes to defense.
Louis Tranquilli: I do Like JaMacus, he showed some flash last year late and you have to like the weapons around him. He's a FF backup.
Jay Clemons: true
Jay Clemons: but a hell of bye-week starter
Scott Engel: hes got the physical tools - higgins has potential
Louis Tranquilli: With some upside.
Scott Engel: I dont like him personally though
Louis Tranquilli: Guy has a great great arm.
Louis Tranquilli: I wouldnt bet the farm, but I like him
Brian Swaw: if they wanted speed they should have taken Maclin..fastest guy in pads
(Commish): Still some decent gambles left on that board
Jay Clemons: am i weird to "prefer" kickers who don't have byes until at least week 7?
Jason Pliml: Not really - I prefer kickers with only one testicle
Jason Pliml: It's just personal preference really
Jay Clemons: you know what I mean
(Commish): Is that why you always drafted Jose Cortez?
Jay Clemons: there's nothing worse than having to move kickers around in week 3 or 4
Jason Pliml: it's true (lowers head in shame)
Jay Clemons: HA
Jay Clemons: i took prater
(Commish): Orton is a nice gamble there
Jay Clemons: ideally...i'd take kaeding
Scott Engel: thanks a lot guys, well done
(Commish): He has weapons and a young, solid line blocking for him
(Commish): Thanks, Scott
(Commish): Thanks to all of our experts
Louis Tranquilli: Orton was good in Chicago with nothing, should be MUCH better with Wrs and a solid offensive HC
Scott Engel: a pleasure
Jay Clemons: thanks, guys
Jason Pliml: thanks to everyone for participating and for answering the questions of our viewers.
(Commish): And thanks to our viewers - especially those who sent in quetions
David Dodds: thanks for the invite
(Commish): questions*
Louis Tranquilli: Thanks all. Would love to talk about the draft if anyone wants t discuss.
JD Harmeyer: thank you and your welcome
David Gonos: thanks for running this -- and inviiting me
(Commish): Thanks, JD.  I would guess you'll be working earlier than the most of us tomorrow - we appreciate it
Brandon Funston: Thanks guys ... see you in another draft room soon, I'm sure
Scott Engel: Rotoworld and MDC rule
JD Harmeyer: not tomorrow..in about three hours
(Commish): Yikes
Brian Swaw: thanks guys...
(Commish): Thanks - we appreciate it
Herbie Teope: Thanks for the invite, fellas. It was fun as always.
Louis Tranquilli: Hey, BFDFantasyfootball-don;t forget it!
Scott Engel: thx Louis
Gregg Rosenthal: Thanks everyone.
JD Harmeyer: sirius-xm satellite radio.....shameless plug
JD Harmeyer: before the last pick
Cory Bonini: haha
Gregg Rosenthal: Should be on newstands in early/mid June.  Shoot me an email if you want a copy.
(Commish): Take care, everyone
